The O.J. Noer Turfgrass Research Foundation has funded basic research projects at over 30 universities across North America since 1958. These funds have helped many graduate students complete advanced degrees and develop into real leaders in our industry. And their hard work on these projects has tremendously increased the knowledge and information base to keep the industry growing.
The process in place for consideration of a grant award from the O.J. Noer Turfgrass Research Foundation starts with an application and project proposal. It includes a standard form which can be downloaded here, and a complete description of the proposed project and budget as outlined on the application form. Applications and proposals are sent to our research committee, comprised of retired and current industry PhD researchers for review. Those comments are forwarded to the Board of Directors for consideration at the annual meeting in late fall. Decisions on awards are based on available funding, the Research Committee comments and the strength and appeal of the project from the Board.
